    Since 2011, in his capacity as epi-tutor, Dr. Thomas Pott has been preparing IP professionals for the European Qualifying Examination. Since 2015, Dr. Thomas Pott has also been coaching in the “Candidate Support Project” organized by the European Patent Office and since 2017, he has been tutoring at the Centre for International Intellectual Property Studies of the University of Strasbourg.

    In 2016, Dr. Thomas Pott became a member of the Examining Board for the qualifying examination at the German Chamber of Patent Attorneys.

    Dr. Thomas Pott is a lecturer for “Intellectual Property” at the University of the German Armed Forces.

  • Career history

    Dr. Thomas Pott studied chemistry at the University of Bielefeld. In 1997, he spent a semester abroad at Queen Mary University of London. He graduated with a diploma in 1999 and obtained his doctorate in 2003, specializing in Organometallic Chemistry.

    From 2003 to 2007, Dr. Thomas Pott performed research activities at Evonik Goldschmidt GmbH, specializing in the chemistry of polyurethanes.

    He became a patent attorney trainee at werkpatent and studied “Law for Patent Attorneys” at the Distance-Learning University of Hagen. He was trained at the Düsseldorf District Court, at the German Patent and Trademark Office and at the German Patent Court. Dr. Thomas Pott is a German Patent Attorney since 2010 and a European Patent Attorney since 2011.

    In 2013, Dr. Thomas Pott obtained a Master of Laws (LL.M.) degree in European Intellectual Property from the Distance-Learning University of Hagen. Further, in 2016, Dr. Thomas Pott obtained a diploma on “Patent Litigation in Europe” from the Centre for International Intellectual Property Studies at the University of Strasbourg.

    From January 1, 2018 to December 31, 2019 Dr. Thomas Pott was a partner of the firm.
